The hardest ACCA papers

The good aspect of tips for ACCA exams is that you can take multiple attempts to pass. Diplomatically, all the papers are difficult if enough practice is not done. The hardness of the ACCA paper highly subjective, however, below are some of the hardest papers.

  • F6 (UK Taxation) and P6 (Advanced Taxation)

F6 (UK Taxation) and P6 (Advanced Taxation) are quite difficult because it covers topics that require composure of mind and quick analysis of the question before answering. Even if you understand the question the way it is structured could make attendees write much more than the time limit and likely to end up with an unfinished exam. Globally, it has the lowest pass score i.e. 38% and 36% (as of 2016)

  • Advanced Performance Management (formerly P5)

Advanced Performance Management has the lowest global pass compared to other  ACCA papers (33% as of 2020). Every year, students make similar mistakes ending up failing the test.

Some students can pass the paper for the first time without trying too much, while others take it a few times. It depends a lot on your aptitude and interest in the various subjects. Find what your final career goal is and study hard for it.

The ever-looming question of studying any degree is a career – becoming an ACCA in Nepal may be unadvised by some in the market. Generally, people in Nepal advise to choose domestic Chartered Accountancy education from ICAN or one from ICAI The Institute of Chartered Certified Accountants of India. Both these degrees are respectable qualifications with recognition from international bodies like International Accounting standards IAS and International Financial Reporting Standards – provide students with a well-paid job and prestigious career. Supporters argue the benefit of auditing license these qualifications provide, the prior provides a certificate of practice in Nepal while others provide a certificate of practice in India.

The certificate of practice means the ability to sign off audited financial reports and statements under a particular country’s law. The ACCA student needs to make extra effort to gain the certificate of practice in Nepal and neighboring India. The people believe there is a significantly greater return in income from the ability to sign off financial statements but it is only partially true. Further, people believe auditing license from neighboring India is equally valuable because of its emergence as an economic hub in recent years. However, these are a little misleading because ACCA qualification and right to audit in the UK like Singapore, UAE, Australia, and more with significant ease make ACCA equally lucrative for ACCA students in Nepal. The ACCA’s headquarter London has long been the economic and financial hub of the globe for centuries due to the quality of service available there. e-learning platform

Seed Financial Academy, a prominent ACCA College in Nepal has launched its own E-Learning platform for its students branded as “SEED E-ACADEMY”. E-Academy will provide an alternative learning platform by introducing Recorded Lectures for all ACCA Papers in Nepal. Our E-learning platforms contribute for digital education in Nepal

Online Learning platform in Nepal

ACCA students, through Seed E-Academy, can purchase and prepare for 4 papers currently (FA, PM, FR, AA) and will be extended to all papers by the end of 2020. The lecture includes PowerPoint presentations with in-depth audio commentary, developed and delivered by a vibrant pool of tutors. Students can also download worksheets, exam-style questions and other exclusive ACCA study materials. They will also receive suggested readings and assignment reviews from top tutors and can directly contact tutors in case of queries related to the subject.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Academic Director, Ananta Gautam announced that the E-Academy courses will be provided free to all students of Seed Financial Academy, a major step taken by the college to introduce the blended learning model for ACCA courses in Nepal. Blended learning combines online digital learning with traditional place-based classroom methods. It requires the physical presence of both teacher and student, with some elements of student control over time, place, path, or pace.

Gautam also announced that with the introduction of the blended learning model, the college will be able to provide 3 months’ session on certain papers like Corporate & Business Law (LW), Financial Reporting (FR) and Audit & Assurance (AA). He emphasized on how fragile the 3 months’ session classes had been run in Nepal without proper planning and faced problems of course completion and revision. Now, with Blended Learning Model, Seed claims to fill the gap that students felt missing in those sessions with its strategy to focus on exam preparation and techniques during physical classes and theoretical aspects during online learning to ensure the timely completion of the syllabus with enough time for students for revision.

The students who had  enrolled in “ Seed E-academy” online lectures during development phase gave an immensely positive response. One of the students, Ujjwal said, “The lectures are thorough, complete and exam-oriented. Tutors are succinct. The standards are high and it will surely be advantageous for students all over Nepal who wish to study ACCA from home or workplace without compromising on quality.

The initiative amid the pandemic is a praiseworthy step. Students willing to get enrolled in ACCA but unable to get back to Kathmandu or to attend physical classes will not have to wait until the pandemic stops. The college has been pushing boundaries from time to time, be it partnering with employers, internship placements or addressing ACCA job market problems with “employ ability skills” paper and with the ‘e-academy’ initiative, Seed continues to be the most forward-thinking ACCA learning provider in Nepal.

Foundations in Professionalism

What have we been up to in this lockdown?

Have you been feeling like you haven’t been unproductive? Well, here is a certificate from ACCA that you could obtain, FREE of cost.

If you don’t already know, completion of foundations exams (F1, F2 and F3) is equivalent to Diploma in Accounting and Business. That is to say, you can get your diploma certificate after FIA by completing a short module called Foundations in Professionalism (FiP).

The good news is you can also finish the FiP before completing all FIA level exams and you will still be awarded the FiP certificate after you clear those exams later.

Your certificate will look like this:

What exactly is FiP?

FiP is an online and interactive module that helps to develop your understanding of what it means to act professionally and ethically as a professional.

It also gives a good taste of the Ethics and Professional Skills module, which is compulsory to get ACCA membership.

It is composed of self-study texts followed by self –review tests.

There is no time limit, you can complete it in smaller chunks in multiple sittings.

Case study is interactive, i.e. like a game. The answer you chose leads to the next step with further details and so on. And if the conclusion is wrong, it will redirect you to step 1 of the question, until you get the answer right.

Finally, you will be awarded the FiP certificate when you score 50% or more in the final test. You can reattempt the test as many times as it takes to pass.

The module is structured as follows:

  • Introduction
  • Professionalism
  • Law and regulation
  • Professional ethics
  • Personal effectiveness at work
  • Personal values
  • Case Study
  • Objective test

Here’s how to access the module:

  1. Log in to myacca.
  2. Click on the “My qualification” tab.
  3. Scroll down the page. In the “Ethics” section, you will find a link to the Foundations in Professionalism module.

Key tip: Copy the text from every chapter onto a word file for reference because you can’t access the module during the final exam but you will be allowed to refer to other resources on and off the web. You may also want to copy your answers of the final exam for you may have to retake the test.

Check your eligibility and learn more about the course HERE: Foundations in Professionalism.
