Whether that be at the initial stage or at the middle of pursuing ACCA, students will face dilemma on choosing between online and classroom learning. It depends on number of circumstances and the individual preference. Let’s drive into advantage and disadvantage of both modes of learning into different headings.

Interactivity and Engagement

The level of interaction in online classes is limited to a time bounded Q&A sessions. It can be challenging to be engaged due to the disruptions, connectivity issues and not a direct connection with the tutor. While in contrast students can engage in real time with more face to face interactions. For students who love to socialize, physical classes will be more beneficial.

Flexibility

Online classes will be more flexible as students can access the recorded lectures from anywhere at their convenience. Those students who have jobs, and other commitments can have difficulties to be bound within the schedule set on the physical classes.

Cost considerations

While the actual course will be priced on the similar level on both the mode of classes, online classes will save the accommodation costs and eliminate the travel expenses. However, some students can find the investment on classroom learning worthwhile due to the networking opportunities it provides and also the structured support.

Preparation and Performance tracking

Online classes do offer regular mocks and progress tracking but when compared to physical classroom learning, the performance is better monitored with regular feedback and  revision sessions. Also when it comes to better exam performance the ratio of students performing better is greater in physical classes.

Finally which one should you choose?

The ultimate decision depends on individuals habit, responsibilities, and preference on flexibility, socialization and interactivity. Do consider the blended approach; the combination of both online and physical sessions that many ACCA institutions are currently offering.
