Ask a room full of ACCA students where they want to begin their careers, and many will probably give the same answer: an audit firm.
It is an understandable choice. Audit firms offer valuable experience and a strong foundation in accounting. But they are not the only place where an ACCA career can take you.
Many finance professionals build their careers within companies, working closely with business stakeholders. They do more than prepare and analyse financial information. They use their financial knowledge to understand business performance, manage costs, prepare budgets, forecast cash flow, and support informed business decisions. This is where ACCA knowledge truly becomes useful.
On 25 August 2026, Seed Financial Academy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nepal Can Group, establishing a collaboration focused on Practical Experience Requirement (PER) placements, knowledge transfer, and capacity building for future finance professionals. The agreement was signed by Mr. Sanjay Pradhan, Director of Academics at Seed Financial Academy, and Mr. Sujeet Acharya, Group CEO of Nepal Can Group.
Why an integrated business can be a valuable learning environment
Nepal Can Group operates across logistics, technology, and e-commerce. For an aspiring finance professional, working in a business with such different areas can offer a broad view of how finance supports real operations.
In logistics, finance is closely connected to costs, asset use, efficiency, and margins. In technology, finance teams may deal with areas such as development costs, recurring revenue and investment decisions. E-commerce brings its own challenges, including large numbers of transactions, returns, reconciliations and payments across different platforms.
Working in this kind of environment allows trainees to see how finance works beyond textbooks and exam questions. They can see how financial information is used to solve problems, manage costs and support business decisions.
Turning ACCA knowledge into practical skills
The ACCA syllabus gives students a strong technical foundation. But there is a difference between knowing how something works in theory and applying that knowledge in a real workplace. That is where PER plays an important role.
The 36 months of practical experience required for ACCA membership are not simply a requirement to complete. It is an opportunity to work with real data, deadlines, and real business situations. It helps students develop skills such as communication, problem-solving, professional judgement and decision-making alongside their technical knowledge.
Through this partnership, Seed Financial Academy aims to help students connect what they learn in the classroom with what they will experience in their careers.
Giving students more than one career path
The partnership with Nepal Can Group is one of two PER partnerships Seed Financial Academy has established in recent weeks. The second partnership, signed with Sterling Wells Services on 9 September 2026, gives students the opportunity to gain experience in professional services, working on areas such as accounting, taxation, VAT compliance, advisory and financial modelling for clients in the UK, India and Nepal.
With these two partnerships, students can explore two different sides of a finance career. The Nepal Can Group partnership allows them to work within a business and understand how finance supports day-to-day operations and business decisions. The Sterling Wells Services partnership gives them experience working with clients and providing professional financial services.
There is no single career path that every ACCA student needs to follow. Different experiences can lead to different opportunities, and gaining the right practical exposure early can help students understand which direction suits their interests and career goals.
